SHIMLA: Complying with SC orders, the Himachal government on Monday put Suresh Shankhyan, former principal of Rajender Prasad Medical College,
Tanda, under suspension for failing to contain ragging that led to the death of first year student Aman Kachroo. Shankhyan had resigned as principal after the incident. Confirming the action, Rakesh Kanwar, additional secretary health, said after examining the inquiry report submitted to the state government, showcause notices have been issued to the hostel wardens. The report has pointed out that ragging was prevalent in other hostels too. The report holds hostel manager Deepak Verma and chief warden Ramesh Bharti prima facie were not guilty of negligence. Joginder Singh, the security guard on duty the night of the incident has been indicted in the inquiry for inaction on his part.
